At a recent session, leaders from CRMN Lyon, Instruct-ERIC, and CERM/CIRMMP shared how they’re transforming user access to cutting-edge NMR infrastructure across Europe.
🧭 CRMN Lyon — Strategic Access in Action
Presenter: Tanguy Le Marchand
At CRMN Lyon, user management is a coordinated effort, aligned with national strategies and university partnerships. Tanguy Le Marchand spotlighted CRMN’s role in EU projects like Infranalytics and Panacea, and detailed access to advanced tools like probes, LTmas, and DNP ports.
Despite a drop in visitor numbers post-Covid, CRMN has streamlined external project workflows—supporting users with:
- Tailored access based on experience
- Clear communication at every step
- Transparent reporting and publication tracking
☁️ ARIA by Instruct-ERIC — Access, Simplified
Presenter: Pauline Audergon
ARIA is changing how researchers connect with structural biology infrastructures. Built by Instratec for Instruct-ERIC, this cloud platform powers hundreds of proposals each year across more than 10 major facilities.
What makes ARIA stand out:
- Custom proposal calls and forms
- Automated review and evaluation
- Integrated feedback and visit coordination
Pauline demoed how managers, reviewers, and scientists use ARIA to manage projects from submission to completion—effortlessly.
🌍 CERM/CIRMMP — A Global Gateway to NMR
Presenter: Francesca Morelli
Francesca Morelli outlined how CERM/CIRMMP enables access to high-level services in molecular biophysics and protein production, balancing user expertise with technical feasibility.
She highlighted the role of ARIA and Panacea in:
- Managing complex requests
- Supporting shared authorship
- Collecting user feedback for continuous improvement
In discussion, the team also touched on custom software solutions, external service packages, and typical approval timelines.
This session shed light on how European research infrastructures are not just keeping up—but leading the way—in creating intuitive, efficient, and researcher-friendly systems. From CRMN’s strategic workflows to ARIA’s digital brilliance and CERM’s global gateway, the future of user management in science looks both bright and beautifully streamlined.
