Our institution was represented by Dr. Alons Lends, a specialist in magnetic resonance spectroscopy, along with PhD students: Alvis Zvirgzdins, Diana Nino Avellaneda and Researcher Kristine Senikane from LIOS. This intensive workshop brought together leading experts, early-career researchers, and hands-on instrumentation to provide a comprehensive training experience designed to advance scientific capabilities in the field.

🔍 Scope and Participation

The workshop hosted:

  • 30 international participants
  • 7 expert speakers
  • 9 experienced supervisors

Over the course of five days, participants engaged in a rigorous combination of theoretical lectures, experimental demonstrations, and data analysis training — all tailored to the specific challenges of working with paramagnetic systems.

đź“… Program Highlights

Monday: May 19th:

  • Foundational sessions on pNMR theory and dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP)
  • Technical modules on NMR circuit design and probe construction
  • Roundtable discussions fostering exchange of ideas across institutions

Tuesday: May 20th:

  • Advanced lectures on paramagnetic shift and relaxation parameter calculations
  • Introductory and applied sessions on EPR spectroscopy
  • Practical lab rotations to contextualize theoretical content

Wednesday–Friday: May 21th - 23th:

  • Hands-on experimental work using state-of-the-art NMR platforms
  • Application-focused sessions on EasyNMR, a tool for automated analysis of paramagnetic NMR data
  • Interactive supervision sessions encouraging individual project discussions

A particular highlight was Dr. Alons Lends’ presentation on [insert topic or title], which prompted in-depth scientific discussions and broadened the interdisciplinary applications of pNMR in complex systems.

👨‍🔬 Researcher Perspective

"The PANACEA workshop was a transformative experience. Each day offered a deep integration of theory and practical skill-building. From the detailed breakdown of paramagnetic interactions to assembling real NMR experiments, the program strengthened both my technical competence and conceptual understanding.

The collaborative spirit was equally valuable. Engaging with experts and peers from across Europe created a rich environment for scientific exchange. Dr. Lends’ lecture, in particular, catalyzed thought-provoking dialogue on emerging applications of pNMR.

I returned to LIOS with new insights, actionable methodologies, and a clearer vision for applying pNMR techniques in our ongoing research."

— Alvis Zvirgzdins, PhD Researcher, LIOS

🔬 Looking Forward

The PANACEA Spring Workshop provided not only high-level training but also a platform for establishing lasting scientific connections. The tools, insights, and collaborations developed during the week will directly contribute to advancing our research efforts in paramagnetic NMR spectroscopy, and we look forward to participating in future initiatives that continue to build capacity and excellence in this vital area of magnetic resonance.

We extend our sincere thanks to the CNRS Lyon Team, organising committee and participants for their dedication to fostering excellence in the NMR community.
